Meet Ann

Ann E. Potter, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist, independent contractor, and partner at The Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska. She is also the sole owner of Ann E. Potter, Ph.D., P.C. With over 45 years of experience in the mental health field, Dr. Potter has served in diverse roles including psychiatric nurse, educator, therapist, psychologist, evaluator, researcher, writer, presenter, and consultant. She has been in private practice since 1989 and co-owned Therapy Resource Associates in Omaha from 1994 to 2008.

Dr. Potter holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Creighton University, a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Nebraska Omaha, and a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her areas of expertise include trauma, attachment, addictions, personality disorders, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Dr. Potter is also specially trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Radical Openness Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT). She is a certified therapist and an approved consultant in EMDR.

Throughout her career, Dr. Potter has contributed to research and outcome studies related to phase-based trauma treatment (DBT/EMDR) for adults. She has published articles on the roles adults played as children in alcoholic families, EMDR therapy, and trauma treatment. Dr. Potter is recognized for her work in piloting research, writing, and presenting on these topics, contributing significantly to the field of trauma and mental health therapy.
